Soft resetting Surface Pro 3 or 4

If your Surface Pro stuck on Surface logo screen, you may be able to recover by simultaneously pressing and holding Power and Volume Up buttons. Specifically:

1. Keep power plugged in.

2. Press and hold power to shut it down.

3. Press and hold power and Volume Up. Keep holding Volume Up until BIOS screen comes up.

This will get you to a text based menu of sorts. From there you can simply exit. This will do equivalent of battery remove / reinsert and it helped my Surface Pro 3 recover from Windows Update induced startup lock at the Surface screen without spinning dots. Hope this saves you from a support call.
