Moving packages / applications to another volume on Synology DSM

Recently I experienced a disk failure that forced me to relocate folders to another volume. Turns out there were bunch of installed packages like HyperVault that also needed to be moved. Unfortunately Synology doesn’t offer any user interface for performing this. Thankfully Andrew McLean put together this guide that took care of the problem. Linking to it below. Thank you Andrew.

Another point that may not be obvious to you is terminal access to the DiskStation. To do this, go to Control Panel, find the Terminal/SNMP icon and inside there enable SSH. You don’t need Telnet.

Then, on your PC, download and install an SSH client like PuTTY and use it to connect to your DiskStation using its name or IP address.
